Yesterday I went to Festival a/d Werf in Utrecht, a festival with lots of great performances and shows. I’ve been here 2 times earlier, and I liked it so much that I decided to go this year too. I’ve seen 2 performances; ‘Hotel’ and ‘House’, both part of the Ciudades Paraleslas/Parallel Cities series of perfomances. I don’t want to tell you too much about it, because I’d like you to discover it yourself, but I can say that they’re both very impressive and unique. After ‘Hotel’ and ‘House’ I went to the stage on the Neude and saw Baxter Dury performing. Nice!
About the festival: “This year, the 27th and last edition of Festival a/d Werf will take place from May 17 to 26. More than ever, the artists will use the city as their stage: performances take place in public spaces such as a hotel, the University Library and the central bus station. These locations are the main subjects and the people who live or work there become the cast. Inspired by this year’s theme This is where we live, performances relate to the city of Utrecht as a part of the bigger picture: the Netherlands, Europe, the world.”
This festival could also be interesting for people who are visiting the Netherlands, because most of the performances are also in English. For more info, please visit the site: www.festivalaandewerf.nl
