A while ago I made bolognese sauce for my pasta, but I made too much and had some leftovers. And I don’t like to throw food away, so there were two options: freezing in the sauce, or use it for a different recipe. I chose for the second option and decided to use the bolognese sauce for some puff pastry snacks. It’s very simple to make, and you can also try these snacks with other fillings, like spinach & goat cheese (I tried this one out too, tastes delicious!), salmon & cream cheese, chicken or make a sweet variation with chocolate. So easy, but yet so tasteful. Great for parties. You can make them a few days ahead and freeze them in (make sure they have cooled off completely before freezing them in).
How to make?
I used ready-made puff pastry with size 12×12 cm and cut these sheets into four pieces (I used a pizza slicer, but you can also use a knife). Place one teaspoon of your choice filling on each peace and fold them together like little packages. To fold these packages just grab all corners with your fingers and bring them together. As a final step brush the snacks on top with a beaten egg and place them in a preheated oven (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes until they are nice golden-brown. Enjoy!
